SMS Consent & Opt-Out
OnMyBooks does not send text messages today. This page sets out the consent and opt-out rules we will follow when SMS reminders launch, so businesses know what to expect.
Last updated: 26 July 2026
Current status
SMS reminders are not enabled. No plan includes text messaging and no phone number entered on a booking is used for marketing. A phone number is stored only so the business can reach the customer about that appointment.
Consent
- Text reminders will be opt-in only. A customer must actively tick an unticked consent box at booking time.
- Consent will be recorded with the date, time and the exact wording shown to the customer.
- Consent to receive reminders will never be a condition of booking an appointment.
- Businesses may not upload phone numbers collected elsewhere and message them through OnMyBooks without that consent.
Message types and frequency
Messages will be transactional only: booking confirmations, reminders before an appointment, and change or cancellation notices. Expect roughly one to three messages per appointment. We will not send promotional texts.
Opting out
- Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts immediately; reply HELP for assistance.
- Opt-outs are honoured at the number level and cannot be overridden by a business.
- Customers can also opt out from their booking manage link or by asking the business directly.
Charges and carriers
Message and data rates may apply. Delivery depends on the mobile carrier and is not guaranteed. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Questions
Ask about text messaging through the contact page. How we store numbers is described in the privacy policy.
